The Next SURVIVOR Series...

A girlfriend emailed this to me this morning... good for a chuckle. For Ladies at least!

The Next Survivor Series-OUTSTANDING!!!!

Six married men will be dropped on an island with one car and 3 kids each forsix
weeks.

Each kid will play two sports and either take music or
dance classes.

There is no fast food.

Each man must take care of his 3 kids; keep his assigned
house clean, correct all homework, and complete science projects, cook, dolaundry, and
pay a list of 'pretend' bills with not enough money.

In addition, each man will have to budget in money for groceries each week.

Each man must remember the birthdays of all their friends and relatives, and
send cards out on time.

Each man must also take each child to a doctor's
appointment, a dentist
appointment and a haircut appointment.

He must make one unscheduled andinconvenient visit per child to the Urgent Care.

He must also make cookies or cupcakes for a social function. Each manwill be
responsible for decorating his own assigned house, planting flowers outside and
keeping it presentable at all times.

The men will only have access to television when the kids are asleep and allchores are done.

The men must shave their legs, wear makeup d aily, adorn himself with
jewelry, wear uncomfortable yet stylish shoes, keep fingernails polished and
eyebrows groomed.

During one of the six weeks, the men will have to endure
severe abdominal cramps, back aches, and have extreme, unexplained mood swingsbut
never once complain or slow down from other duties.

They must attend weekly school meetings, church, and find time at least once tospend the
afternoon at the park or a similar setting.

They will need to read a book and then pray with the children each night and inthe morning, feed them, dress
them, brush their teeth and comb their hair by 7:00 am.

A test will be given at the end of the six weeks, and each f ather will
be required to know all of the following information: each child'sbirthday, height, weight, shoe size, clothes size and
doctor's name. Also the child'sweight at birth, length, time of birth, and length of labor,
each child's favorite color, middle name, favorite snack, favorite song, favorite
drink, favorite toy, biggest fear and what they want to be when they grow up.

The kids vote them off the island based on performance. The
last man wins only if...he still has enough energy to be intimate with hisspouse at a
moment's notice.

If the last man does win, he can play the game over and
over and over again for the next 18-25years eventually earning the right to be called
Mother!

So... I'm pretty much out of the funk but my toes are still dangling over...grazing the "muck" on a daily basis.
I *know* it's just something to grow from. A test of sorts. Each trial is a test of faith and trust. Testing my understanding and acceptance that I am not the one ultimately in control. Testing my heart and mind- realigning to be God-centered. My hands are on the wheel but I can't steer completely on my own. This "road trip" is TIRED. OLD. I soooo want it to be over.

But I'm TIRED of driving!!! Not just trying to steer- but just being in the driver seat.
I need a rest area STAT, ok?? Someone else can take a turn.
...'k?

Whining session #2 officially complete.
bleep.

If I didn't spill cups o' joe all over my desk on a weekly basis, I'd be all over these in a heartbeat! Nifty idea. Plus, my "Where's Waldo" mousepad is not exactly stimulating anymore.

Maybe I'll order one soon anyway- it would look even BETTER with a coffee-stain ring here and there dontcha think?! From the fantastic

Expelled.

Just a reminder! The new Ben Stein movie "EXPELLED" is coming out this month, on the 18th.

In it, he talks with the many scientiests that are being persecuted for questioning Darwinism and allowing for the possibility of Intelligent Design. They are refused tenure and publication in scientific journals and just plain persecuted.

Can't wait to see it!

Ok God. i get it...

so i'm in a bit of a funk.
i woke up that way.
it's partially hormone driven perhaps. but i could just use that as an excuse too...
i'm not mad.
i'm not depressed.
but i'm in funk and just want to wallow in the "bleh..sigh...bleh" of it all.

and then i open my email.
4 new messages...
hmmm. that's funny. they're all my subscription bible devotions and encouragement sites...

i'm tempted to just click the "delete" next to all of them and move on without reading.

afterall, i've got a lot on my plate today. like always. hrmph.
but i open the first one. hmmmm. a message to walk through the "mire" of life with God.
nice. i feel a little convicted for almost deleting it. i feel an invisible "thump" on the top of my head... God flicking me lovingly with His almighty finger.
here's a clip of it...

..Many of my friends would trade my "rains" for their Valley of Weeping. Their lives hold divorce, illness, death---myriads of places of sorrows. God doesn't promise us a trouble- free life, but He does say that Valleys of Weeping will eventually become pools of blessing. We choose our attitudes. We can decide to trust Him during the difficult seasons or we can bury ourselves in bitter self-pity.
Psalm 27:14, "Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord" (NIV).

i open the second email. the title says "Endure Everything With Patience".
yep. It's reading Colossians 1:1-14...

alright God.
i get it.
i just need that thump on the head now and again to set me back on the right path.

I started my account long ago but haven't looked at it from a SELLING standpoint for quite some time.
There are only a few things up right now, but I have so much more to put up!
Vintage and a few handcrafted ditties...

Keep checking back in-- maybe you'll find something you take a fancy to!
I've posted a widget at the right that you can click on.

Worlds Tallest Midget

The kids had a great time at the birthday party...Matthew ended up tagging along with Josie by invitation at the front door...very nice!

*I* had a LOVELY time with my best friend-- we gabbed over coffee. we laughed a lot. we meandered all over a spankin' new TJ Maxx and left empty-handed. I'm sorry, but I'm STILL patting myself on the back about that. I ate at Ruby Tuesday's for the first time...DELISH. Then we saw this flick. Really, really enjoyed it. We laughed a LOT. Watch the preview below!

Friday Fluff.

Not a lot going on today.
Rather nice.
The weather is TERRIBLE! Very windy w/heavy rain.

We're tucked in the house, playing quietly.
Kept school casual... we did some copywork, review of History lesson & some Math drills.
Later today Josie has a birthday party to go to and I'm having an evening out with Joc.
Good times for the girls in the house!

Here's the fluff... have you seen the new Crewcuts Spring items from J.Crew (their kids line)?

SOOOO cute. Late, late, late last night I took a break from Ebay and did a bit of "window" shopping for my kidlets...

This jersey dress...is that bodice adorable or what?!

The dress below reminds me of 50s housedresses/shirtdresses... lovely, simple.

This one is difficult to see on the white background but it's SO sweet. The little details just MAKE IT.

And these little wellies... could you GET any CUTER?!?

Another shirtdress with a bit of fancying up-frills. LOVE IT.

And this glorious, green wonder. I'm in love again... that neckline & pockets...happiness.

Now a few pieces for Matthew... He appreciates ties. I LOVE that he enjoys wearing ties. Especially because he looks fantastically hip when he wears them... a button down shirt with his little sleeves rolled up haphazardly, untucked.... He's a handsome kid, what can I say?

A cool henley style pullover sweatshirt... love the stripes.

He has a few pair of patchwork shorts already- but I'm a sucker for them. So what the heck...here's a new pair.

Alright.... enough already.

Have a wonderful weekend!

More Books!!!

A quick post about more book love today!
We did some running around this morning- including a quick stop in a thrift store. I scored some great books for the kids and my vintage collection that's growing rapidly!
Also found some EVERYDAY FOOD mags that I don't have yet--earlier editions, so I snagged those for 30cents each.

The first two pics are books I found thrifting today... LOVED Martha's House. We used to have that book at home and i remember loving every room in little Martha's house. The second book, Ask Mr.Bear, is one I've been wanting for a long time. I ADORE the illustrations. The copy I discovered today has some wear/tear to the cover but otherwise in great shape. Not too shabby for 10cents!!

Here are books we're reading or have just finished...
Jon Katz writes about his little farm, the animals he aquires... it's a nice way to unwind before drifting off to sleep...reading about his little farm.

Haven't started this one yet but it's next on the pile. Looks like it should be good.

WOW. A girlfriend told me about this book and I just remembered to check it out at the library. I'm only a few chapters in and feel like I should tell EVERYONE I KNOW to read this at least once!!! There's a BOUNDARIES for CHILDREN as well, which I'd love to read.

Matthew read this to Josie today-- they enjoyed the illustrations.

Just wrapped up this short chapter book. I'll read to the kids while they eat lunch usually...this was the latest! The kids are eager to get book 2: Mercy Watson Goes For A Ride.
Ok... that's about it for today.
Still need to do a quick review with the kids for AWANA's tonite.
Hope you all had a wonderful day.
Our weather was GLORIOUSLY sunny but COLD!!!!!
