vbs night1
It turned out great (a bit harried initially but all turned out well).
Here's one of the songs the kids learned tonite...so cute!
*note: please be warned that at the end of this youtube video it stops and gives the option to replay or peruse a filmstrip of related VBS clips- which is cool...but there's one EXTREMELY inappropriate/offensive/NOT for kids (or adults) clip of what seems to be Spongebob- but it's NOT, i'm not sure why youtube stuck it with the others. DO NOT CLICK on that!!

Garden Glimpses.
I've never had anything beyond some strawberries and tomatoes in containers in the past...so it's been fun to give a "real" garden (a quite *small* real garden, to be precise)a go. As we live in a rental home, I didn't want to invest $$ in raised beds, but I liked the low-weed appeal. And the clean, organized appearance... So I read a blurb in a garden magazine about the French method (basically free-form raised beds of earth, with your veggies placed closer together- thus fewer weeds and better water conservation.) I decided to try it and I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. Although it's a tad neglected at this very moment, the weeds are insignificant and the veggies are progressing nicely. The mounds do appear to hold water better, and with the plants close together- the necessity of mulch is low. Pretty cool...if you're a garden newbie/nerd like me!
And across the yard...a busy little bee caught landing...
At night, we open the door in our bedroom (which opens out to the backyard)for a while and set a fan in front, to blow some cool air into the house...the smell from this butterfly bush wafts in...very soothing!
Well...off to monitor kidlets & company in pool and work in the yard a bit.

Score.
Here's my recent score...
go ahead, be jealous. it's okay.

You're looking at a Cuisinart coffee maker in Chrome! Woohoo!
Well...news on the homefront:
- My sister had her baby girl...Adelie, on Wednesday morning. I'll post more details later with a picture...soon, I hope! I've seen pics (haven't seen her in person yet. bahhh)and she's ADORABLE. Perfectly perfect.
- The hubster started back to work following his back surgery...doing well. Just recovering S-L-O-W-L-Y.
- I'm going to a Homeschool Convention/Curriculum fair this Saturday and I'm stoked! Cannot WAIT! I've got my "To Buy" list and I'm ready to roll. Going with a couple girlfriends and we're making a day of it...coffee, curriculum and something yummy for lunch & dinner.
- The sun came out and my garden is actually starting to grow.
- I got a new printer...not top of the line but it WORKS!!!
- In serious purge/organize mode 'round the house. LOVE that feeling & seeing how quickly things can come together and simplify living.
- We're BBQing up a storm.
- The kidlets are in swim lessons and doing....well. swimmingly well!
- I detailed my car yesterday and it looks pretty schnazzy, if I do say so myself. I won't tell you how long it took.
- The kidlets and I are turning golden. I'm sorry but we all look SO good with tans. Our eyes are bluer, our hair blonder and my cottage cheese recedes, or so it seems. And THAT, my friends, is good for EVERYONE who must behold my thighs. Although..that is truly limited to my family. Poor souls.
Alright. I'm sorry to end this entry talking about my thighs but... the bbq'd steak is DONE!

Man...my kids are CUTE. Swashbuckling siblings...
Josie and her cousin, Tori. Again...the cuteness!
My kidlets busy coloring/drawing at Aunt Kates. It's a dark pic but I still love it.
I've been working out to this for the last couple weeks... It's a great workout but oh my. I'm SO outta shape, lemme tell ya. Working on changing that. This is no frills, get your heart pumping, exhaust your muscles GOOD.

Totally random picture here. I found this and yeah. the kaftans are cute. But it reminds me of my bff "j" and myself. I know she'll appreciate it and its simple sweet reflection of our friendship. Except if it were accurate- the blonde would be the taller one. ;)

Yes. I think that's a smidge more accurate.

classic.
eh.
A ficitional depiction of an increasingly frequent "norm" in our society.
I wasn't interested in seeing it.
And then I kept hearing how fabulous it was. Everyone, Everywhere! "Amazing. Brilliant. Touching. A Classic!, etc.etc."
So I rented it. To check out what the hype was about.
And it was indeed a touching fictional depiction of an increasingly freqent "norm" in our society.
Touching because it's a sorry situation. And it happens all the time these days. And here's a movie all about it.
It grieved me.
Sure everything turned out as best as could be expected in the situation-- but still....
The soundtrack was fun and whimsical.
There was occasional witty dialogue.
But overall?
I think I'm the lone ranger who found it depressing and sad & wish I hadn't wasted my time to check the hype.
oh well.
