Last week was Mother's Day weekend. Saturday I broke a toe on my left foot- a ridiculous injury, really. It's amazing how much importance ONE toe has to your balance & comfort. Still hobbling around at the end of the day now, but healing fine. On Sunday we went to church, then took a drive to Silverton. The weather was beautiful! Perfect outdoor meandering weather. I didn't last long gimping around, but it's a small town- so it was fine! Lovely old architecture, antique shops and people watching...
the kids tried on a cowboy hat in an antique store for kicks...
We came home and the hubster grilled steaks with asparagus and HUGE baked potatoes. It was DELISH. Ahhh...the beginning of grilling season has begun. LOVE it!!
Wednesday night was the kids AWANA Awards night. This year was their first at Faith Baptist and they've LOVED it. The program is well-handled with lots of teachers, assistants, dedication and care. All of that has produced a fantastically successful program that my children are able to be a part of & learn from. They've gained friends, mentors & Biblical truth and cannot WAIT to start up again in the Fall.
Matthew did VERY well this year. He missed a lot of Wednesdays this year but still managed to ALMOST finish his book. Next year he should be able to get through 2 books at least..and he's already psyched about it. He's learned many Bible verses & Bible Application this year and that is invaluable! Love that the teachers encourage the kids to ask tough questions about their faith and why they believe what they do. It's not just Bible stories that seem like fairy tales & game time--they dig in AND have fun while they're at it.
..they were a smidge wound up after the award ceremony and cookie social...is that apparent at all?
Josie was able to finish 2 books this year and has graduated from Sparks!
She was REALLY happy about that. And the pretty blue ribbon she earned. And the cookies. And the kool aid. Happpyyyyyyyyy!!
And I won't tell you how many shots I took to get this one. The man in the mini van behind us in the parking lot could probably tell you. As well as share the pitiful-yet-humorous experience of watching a mother attempt to photograph two manic, sugar shocked children for posterity. Notice Matthew's award is upside down... of COURSE.
The remainder of this week will be busy but enjoyable. Baseball practice in sunshine (wahoo!), Iron Man 2, getting back into my workout routine after taking a few days off for my ridiculous broken medial phalange, a baseball game Saturday, hopefully dinner with family, church and a photo shoot!
Can't wait!!!
XOXO
